A setback

After waiting and watching the pain for a few days, I finally went to the ortho last night. One of the discs in the cervical spine that has been operated upon is in stress again; a nerve pinch and therefore the agony. It takes me back seven years… the same medication, the Vitamin E, the bedrest… the pain and the despair. This time, my right side has been affected; I never recommend surgery – the patient comes back with the same problem after a few years, said this ortho. Good for you, doc.

After all this… and this, I seem to be back at where it all started. I want to throw my hands up (ouch!) and take a deep breath and say – give me a break. I am going to be off the computer for a few days, for as long as it takes for this spell to subside. Wish me well.

  1. Came to your blog through desipundit..Really Nice Pics.

Read your medical problems. My mother is going through the same procedure
    now..

No one knows what her problem is. She had a gynic surgery few years back
followed by severe vertigo. We had seen a neuro surgeon, who suggested
an ENT surgeon, who placed severe restrictions on her diet. We tried
naturopathy, ayurveda, homeopathy and all that. Recently her arms were
terrible pain and her back was stiff. She was diagnosed with spondylytis,
asked to wear a collor, take bed rest for 3 weeks. she was asked to go
through yoga, traction, physiotheraphy, and what not. She cause of her
condition was attributed to that of her profession (she is a teacher).
Right now she is extermely optimistic of the yoga and ayurvedic massages.

Praying that it gives her relief. Curiously, her name is also Charu.
Maybe people should start a consortium of sorts for this problem..Docs
seem to have very less idea of what they are trying to do. And worse still,
    they tell us even lesser.

Take care, and get well soon.

  2. I have got the more common version of disc herniation-the lumbar.Surgery is not recommended.Physical exercises performed under guidance would help to relieve it.Anyway,I am not the doctor!Just sharing problems and solutions!
    Wishing you a speedy recovery,

  6. Dear Charu, just y’day I was telling a friend about how you do lots of things AND write about them regularly despite the terrible back. Sad to know now that the trouble continues. There are many like me inspired by your positivity, so keep it up! Lots of love and wishes.
