Indian summer

Summer is here – the days are longer, brighter, warmer and more tiring. The signs are all around us…

Eat them raw, slice them and smear salt and chilli powder and scrunch your faces as you bite, make sweet cool aam panna

Or better, turn them into pickles and enjoy through the year…

Keep sipping on water or those cooling drinks when at home…

Or if out on the streets, make your way to refreshing coconut water, ganne ka ras or dig into fresh fruit (just make sure they are cut in front of you). And bring some ganne ka ras home, add ice cubes and a splash of vodka!

And for once, I am thankful I live in cool Bangalore and not in humid Bombay or worse, fiery Madras where there are only three seasons – sum, summer and summest. Bangalore does get hot but for a short two months.

Now to stay cool and wait for these…
