Blogs – as promotion tools for books?

A publisher acquaintance from Bangalore has written to me asking for creative ways of sales promotion for hius new venture – his publishing venture is just a year old and focuses on original English writing from india – they have recently featured their publications at the recent London Book Fair…

His is a small business which cannot afford conventional advertising/ marketing channels – also, I believe that they may not be the best for a category like books. He believes that blogging can be an innovative and cost effective tool for promoting his new books and ask for ideas.

Please leave your comments and suggestions that I may pass on to him…

  1. this is out of context – but ive been reading ur posts and feel that you might be able to help me out with this! I dont have ur email – so im taking the liberty of posting my blurb here-

I’m currently working on a paper describing the relationship between “Psychology” and “India”…(im studying at York University, Canada)
While academic journals are great sources of information in the field..
I’m finding it a little difficult to add a common man (person)’s perspective on the field in India.

    So,
Could you please take out a bit of a time …
and give me your opinion or perspective on psychology as a field (of study/science) in India?

    Things like –
What does psychology, as a field, mean in India?
Where do you see influences of psychology based research in India?
Does it play a significant role?
Should it evolve to play a significant role?
How do you think psychology can contribute in the Indian context?
Would you go to a therapist, if recommended?
What should the priorities of research in psychology be?

The comment box might be a little inadequate to answer all of these questions…
feel free to drop me a line at [rituchokshi(at)gmail(dot)com]
    I’d really appreciate your input.

    thanks!

    :^)
