A sari state of innovation

I had recently written for India Ink, the India website of the New York Times, a story on the pocket sari introduced by Kumaran Silks a couple of years ago. It turns out that there is more, much more where that came from – the denim sari (the lady wears in the ad a belt and cowboy hat), the jodi pattu (sari and matching shirt for the man. yes, don’t ask), zip sari (different pallus to be zipped up according to the mood of the moment) and so on. And of course, you remember the famous sari of 10, 000 colours.

I recently came across this one – A light and sound sari for Deepavali

So, happy shopping! Buy yourself one of these innovative saris. Me, I will stick to a traditional one in classy block prints, and I will carry a purse for my phone.

And wow! as I was googling for some info for this post, I found that Boing Boing had linked to my NYT sari story. Yaay!
