Designer god

From today’s Bombay Times

It’s true. Bollywood’s leading stylist Manish Malhotra has been roped in to design the garments worn by the idol of Lord Krishna at the Iskcon Temple in Juhu for today’s Janmashtami celebrations. What’s more, the Kalash Abhishek of Lord Krishna at puja time will be performed by Manish in the presence of other Bollywood personalities like Raveena Tandon, Rani Mukerji and Sonam Kapoor. Neeta Lulla, who designed the outfit for Lord Krishna’s consort Sri Radha, will also be part of the festivities. For this auspicious occasion, Manish has used silk and velvet with heavy gold sequin work and hand embroidery.

It is true – that one wonders, what next…

  1. The form of Lord Krsna that is worshipped by His devotees is called a ‘murti’ or ‘deity’ form. This worship of God has been going on for thousands of years and is certainly verifiable in so many ancient texts as a bonafide method of connecting with God and making progress in spiritual life.

What next. . . maybe some return to sanity, compassion, real knowledge. . . peacefulness and happiness for our
citizens; instead of the foolish thinking that goes on these days that material things will bring the peace of mind and happiness that everyone wants.

Try increasing your spiritual life – you might be surprised with the result!

  2. Here in Bangalore, they are coming up with an amusement park for all the Krishna devotees it seems…. supposed to be a spiritual amusement park (ISKON 2.0?)
