You must have read Why India loves facebook by now – (an excellent post) written in response to the news that facebook is set to open its India office. So you tell me, why would India not love facebook? Or any other community that allows Indians to do all things dear to them?
Stay in touch with people from their super-distant past, keep tabs on their neighbours (and friends and colleagues), remain connected with their sister’s cousin’s friend’s brother-in-law, knowing who went whose party last night and whose relationship status has changed from ‘married’ to ‘it’s complicated’ (and admit it, it is fun to speculate – and is it only Indians who do it?)
And then, why only facebook? Ryze was all the rage eight years ago and for Orkut, India was one of the largest markets, after only Brazil and Pakistan.
